Overall fun and mysterious at first but loses its charm in the later parts of the game. Finding every areas secret of how to deal with the monsters is a little fun but by the end of the game the progression wasn't as enjoyable. There is a lot of upgrades you can get for your boat but you really don't need that much done to it. The problem then comes with the rest of the game the man guides you to one of the 4 corners of the map where you will complete some sort of questline by an npc which will result in finding whatever item it is you needed. After you find the first item you are granted a power to speed up your boat which is great. Once you've made enough money and done enough exploring a man sends you on a quest to find 5 items that were lost to sea after a boat crash.

This is why I enjoyed the start of the game as upgrading the motors to the boat was key for being able to explore. The biggest issue is the lack of cargo space on the boat, you feel like you can't make treks out to sea due to time constraints as you can't be out late at night and you can't hold enough items on your boat. The fishing minigame is pretty simple and fun and makes the fishing more engaging instead of just holding down a button. I found this part of the game to be the most enjoyable.

The boat at this point in the game is very slow. The game starts off really slow at first as you don't really know what you need to do except just fish and make money. Dredge is a Lovecraftian fishing game where you control a boat to fish and dredge items while upgrading your boat to find cursed relics for a mysterious man.
